We went home for Christmas- The Baby's First Christmas

For those that didn’t know, Jerry (Heath’s Dad) was involved in a bad motorcycle accident before Thanksgiving, and while he is doing so much better, he isn’t leaving the hospital anytime soon. So this Christmas was a bit different as others, but Santa, and the families were very generous to the kids. The Baby got to meet a lot of the family, and Sabrina said that if we gave her an hour she’d get The Baby crawling. Sure enough, she was right. On Christmas Eve he started a form of forward movement. It’s a cross between and inch worm, and a belly flop, but he can move fast. Plus we had the snow storm and the first White Christmas in Spartanburg since 1963? (or a 1947, depending on how you view a White Christmas). The Girl is the only one who enjoys playing in the snow, and it's a shame that she didn't see how much snow Chesapeake got.

The Baby got a new high chair.

Thanks, Dad and Sabrina. We really like it.

The Girl is 10, so we had a party

Kelly is realizing that The Girl is turning 10. What does that mean for her? Eight more..maybe.
People didn't think the party was going to be any fun.

But we played games

We had cake and ice cream.
We opened presents

The Girl had a blast. A lot
of friends came to visit.
Even these two perked up.

The Baby’s New cap

Kelly found this cap at Old Navy for a good price, and thought it was so cute. Heath calls it the Pocahontas cap, because of the black braids.

We went to D.C.

The Boy has been learning about the monuments, and since he doesn’t remember living there we stayed in D.C. overnight after a youth baptism trip. The kids got to go to the zoo. Then we went to the NRA museum, The Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum, and drove through downtown. We got to visit with Herb and Jenna, which was Heath's favorite part, and keep in mind he loves going to the NRA museum. Heath chose to show his favorites guns of the trip, the Outlaw Josey Wales revolvers, and the gun Mal from Firefly used. The new NRA exhibit is all of the original Gatling guns, which is supposedly the largest Gatling exhibit in the world, or so they say. They have several more scattered through the museum, but above is one of each model.
The Boy wrote an amusing story about the trip when he got back to school. It hit all the highlights. Heath thought that it could use a translation copy to cover a few gaps The Boy explains in person, so he made a pdf document. I found a way to post it here.

Will the kids ever take a good picture together?

So we have yet to get all three kids to sit together long enough to get a great picture. So we have continued to make lots of attempts to get a 2 out of 3 shots. Most times it’s just easier to take a picture of the Baby, since he’s usually a captive audience.

The Baby was so happy to see Heath. He had been gone over the the week of Thanksgiving seeing to his Dad at the Hospital ICU. So he met us at the McDonald's while we were waiting on Alexis in therapy. Baby just kept smiling and laughing everytime he would look at Heath.
